Renovations and extensions

Rework the home you have, rather than start again.

Not every project is a new home. Sometimes the better answer is to rework or extend a home worth investing in, done properly, across Nelson and Motueka. This is architect-led renovation and extension work, for homes and clients where the quality of the result matters more than the size of the job.

  • We bring the same design-led, high-performance approach to an existing home: better light, warmer and drier rooms, and a result that feels considered rather than tacked on.

  • Every project starts around one table, with the right architect and energy-literate engineer brought in from the first sketch.

  • It runs in the open, with every dollar visible, which matters twice over when surprises can hide in old walls.

Areas we serve near Nelson and Tasman: Nelson, Richmond, Motueka, Mapua and Tasman.

Built for comfort

Making an older home warmer and drier.

Insulation, airtightness detailing, better glazing and ventilation can transform how an older home feels and runs, often more than a new kitchen or a fresh coat of paint.

  • We assess what a home actually needs rather than guessing, testing where heat is lost and where damp and draughts get in.

  • Then we target the work that makes the real difference, without disturbing more of the existing structure than necessary.

  • The result holds its warmth through winter, stays cooler in summer, and costs less to run.

Proven renovation work

A real renovation, not a concept.

At Paton Road, we reworked and extended an existing home around a new double-sided stone fireplace, set beneath a vaulted living space that changed how the whole home feels. It is a real, finished renovation you can see for yourself.

Good questions

Renovations and extensions, answered.

Do you do renovations and extensions as well as new builds?

Yes. We bring the same design-led, high-performance approach to reworking and extending existing homes across Nelson and Tasman, with the same open-book pricing and one accountable team.

Can you make an older home warmer and drier?

Usually, yes. Insulation, airtightness detailing, better glazing and ventilation can transform how an older home feels and runs. We assess what your home needs and tell you honestly what will make the biggest difference for your budget.

What does a high-end renovation cost?

It depends entirely on the scope and the state of the existing home, so we will not guess. We work through the scope with you, price it open-book so you see the real costs, and always carry a sensible contingency, because surprises can hide in old walls.

Do you do home extensions in Motueka?

Yes. Motueka is a regular part of our renovation and extension work, alongside Nelson, Richmond, Mapua and the wider Tasman district. The same architect-led, high-performance approach applies wherever the home is.
